Phenomenal saxophonist, Joseph Chinouriri better known as Jose Sax, has gained international recognition after his collaboration with various international artists earned him an Italian Tenco Award.

Sax’s spell-bounding saxophone playing skills, have attracted the attention of the best in the business after collaborating with Italians and other artists from around the world on an album titled: The Gathering, which won a Tenco Award in Italy.

“In 2019 we did our second live DVD and some Italian guys passed through our studio. They attended our show and they loved our music that is how our friendship started. Recently, I got an invite to collaborate with the Italian guys on an album called The Gathering which featured talented artists from different countries.

“The album has 12 songs and I lead on the title track, while Taka and Daniel lead on the track Tamburi. This album scooped a Tenco award, which is Italian, and we feel honoured. We are set to go to Italy this weekend to celebrate our win,” he said.

On the album, Jose Sax leads on the title track “The Gathering”, while his “In Total” band members Takakunda Mukundu and Daniel Gonora co-lead on the track “Tamburi”.

“The celebrations will give us a platform to continue showcasing what our country has to offer in terms of musical talent. We will be fusing African music with Italian music, showcasing what we do before an international audience,” Mukundu said.
