Zim brands a national pride

TWO hundred local brands from all sectors of the economy were duly recognised for excelling in this year’s Superbrands awards held in Harare this Friday.

Zimbabwe is vigorously pursuing a local content policy to stimulate economic development from enhanced local production which is sustainable in the country’s development matrix.

It is in this context that the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe MAZ has been motivating competition among traditional brands and new entrants through honouring them with awards.

Zimbabwe’s national pride is deeply seated in brands that have stood the test of time by offering quality products that match International standards as alluded to by the MAZ patron, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa who is also the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting services during the awards ceremony this Friday.

“I want to implore marketers to develop quality brands which can compete globally, it is high time that we consider global markets for our Zimbabwean products,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

Senator Mutsvangwa also highlighted that government is in the process of streamlining and simplifying import and export regulations in the spirit of supporting local companies.

“As government we are well aware of the critical role that good brands play in advancing the economic and socio political interests of our country, the goodwill that accrues from owning a positive Brand and image is invaluable.”

As Zimbabwe marches towards vision 2030 the overarching Brand for the country is “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” that attests the second republic’s desire to grow the economy.
