President ED Mnangagwa mourns Douglas Munatsi

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says the country has lost a creative business leader and great patriot after the death of Zimbabwe Investment and Development Authority -ZIDA Chief Executive Officer Mr Douglas Munatsi.

Mr Munatsi died in a fire incident at his home in Harare this Monday.

In his condolence message to the Munatsi family, President Mnangagwa said the late ZIDA boss had become the country’s point-man in the operationalisation of the One-stop Investment Project.

“A leading Banker, outstanding farmer, visionary business leader the late Mr Munatsi had become our point man in operationalising our nation’s one stop Investment Project for improving the investment climate and ease of doing business for our country,” he said.

President Mnangagwa pointed out that under the late Munatsi’s versatile direction and knowledge, Zimbabwe was able to make an impression globally in a short space of time, registering positive ratings from the global investor community.

“Through his knowledge and under his versatile direction, Zimbabwe was able to make an impression globally in a short space of time, registering positive ratings in the eyes of the global investment community,” he added.

The President also acknowledged Mr Munatsi’s efforts in showcasing the country in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and at the African Continental Free Trade Area Fair in Durban, South Africa.

Munatsi once worked for Banc ABC as the Chief Executive before he took over as the CEO of ZIDA.

He is survived by his wife and three sons.

Mourners are gathered at House Number 29 Morningside Drive, Mt Pleasant in Harare.

Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
