FILM enthusiasts thronged Ster Kinekor in Harare this Wednesday where Neria 21, a remake of Zimbabwe’s 1991 epic movie Neria, was being premiered.
A Rawsoot production, Neria 21 which explores various issues pertaining gender based violence against women, saw poetry heavyweight Albert Nyathi rekindling his love with acting.
“It’s not my first time. I have featured on a number of productions which include yesteryear drama series. I have also worked with great actors from the region which include South Africa’s Vusi Kunene,” said the aritist.
Canon South Africa Country Manager of Corporate Communications, Marketing and PR Arethur Molefe, marvelled at the development of the local film industry.
“Neria 21 is a very good movie. It is one of the best productions to come out of Zimbabwe. Our company partnered with the producers of Neria 21 because it’s a brilliant production,” said Molefe.
Canon South Africa partnered Rawsoot film in the production of the film.
Film enthusiasts were elated about rekindling their romance with cinema after a long sabbatical owing to COVID-19.
Neria 21 has new talent which includes Kudzai Chenjedza, Oswald Mahwende, Maureen Ngwenya, Innocent Kufakunesu and veteran actress Blessing Nyamukapa.
