THE 2021 Easter Holidays have witnessed increased traffic on the roads compared to last year, thereby contributing to a rise in road traffic accidents.
To date, nine people have perished during the first two days of the Easter Holidays due to road traffic accidents.
This is almost a 50 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, with Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi attributing the surge to an increase in travel in the post Covid-19 lockdown era.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi also revealed a grim picture on those injured.
Motorists have since been reminded that road traffic safety is a shared responsibility, hence they should take caution as they travel to reduce further carnage.
