THE World Health Organisation (WHO) has endorsed Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 vaccine roll out plan, expressing satisfaction that once the doses are secured, they will be administered in accordance with their standards.

Government recently announced that it is finalising a COVID-19 vaccine roll out plan that will see the country inoculating its citizens as part of efforts to combat the pandemic.

The development has seen World Health Organisation (WHO) country representative, Dr Alex Gasasira expressing satisfaction with the progress being made to roll out the COVID-19 vaccine in Zimbabwe.

“Under our supervision we have witnessed a well establishment of coordination structures to develop and monitor vaccine delivery timelines with priority groups having been targeted which is a positive development.”

Dr Gasasira dispelled speculation surrounding the vaccines and urged the nation to follow guidelines from government and heath officials.

“For every vaccine to be administered the World Health Organisation has a mandate to strictly monitor and advice authorities. We are working closely with the officials from the Ministry of Health and Childcare.”

COVID-19 has so far claimed over one thousand people in Zimbabwe and the second wave has seen a sharp increase in positive cases.
