ZWL 100 000 fine for flouting lockdown regulations

A prominent Bindura businessman, Nyasha Muomba has been convicted for flouting lockdown regulations by opening his nightclub to the public.

Muomba, 39, was slapped with a 100 000 Zimbabwean dollar fine by Bindura Provincial Magistrate, Tinashe Ndokera for breaching the Public Health, Prevention, Containment and Treatment statute on COVID-19.

Prosecutor Thembinkosi Mananga revealed that last Wednesday at around 1900 hours, police on patrol arrested Muomba while at his premises which was operational despite the embargo on bars and night clubs

Five people, who were drinking beer at the club, were also arrested.

The five have since been handed a 50 000 Zimbabwean dollar fine each or 60 days in prison.
