The significant change to the most famous Lord’s prayer by the Pope has prompted outrage from some worshippers
Pope Francis changed the Lord’s Prayer after becoming frustrated at a line suggesting God might lead people into temptation.
Instead of saying, “Lead us not into temptation,” Catholics will say, “Do not let us fall into temptation,” The Guardian and Fox News reported.
The new Lord’s Prayer will now read:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done; On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And do not let us fall into temptation;
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
