Judith Makwanya to be buried today

ZBC Diplomatic Correspondent Judith Makwanya, who died on Monday, will be laid to rest today at Warren Hills Cemetery.

The burial is slated for 11am.

A church service for the late Makwanya was held at Doves Funeral Services in Harare yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade has sent a message of condolences to the Makwanya family, following the death of veteran journalist, Judith Makwanya in Harare on Monday.

In a statement, the ministry spokesperson Mr Gideon Gapare, said the Minister Retired Lieutenant General Dr Sibusiso Moyo, the Secretary Ambassador James Manzou and the entire staff, learnt with profound grief, shock and sadness of the death of Makwanya.

He described Makwanya as a humble, true patriot, capable communicator, accomplished and seasoned journalist, whose dedicated service to her profession and country, was unquestionable.

Mr Gapare said as the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s Diplomatic Correspondent, she was the ministry’s focal point and handled her duties diligently, livening news presentations both at home and abroad, while covering Presidential visits.

He said Makwanya’s death is a great loss to the government, the media fraternity and the nation at large.

Mr Gapare urged the family to take strength, courage and solace in that their loss is shared by the ministry and the entire nation.
